In 2010, BEF began its Bonsall Sprouts Garden Program when it received a grant to build its first garden and create an enrichment program. Students could learn about the environment and healthy living and conduct hands-on science experimentation. This program ran for over a decade. Then, in 2023, the school district partnered with North Coast Church's Weekend of Service to help create the Bonsall Farm. This new program gives all elementary school kids in the district an opportunity for hands-on farming experience that relates to the science standards. Plus, they harvest the available foods for school lunches. We also have chickens! This program now has a full-time teacher plus 2 ASAE (Animal Science and Agriculture Enrichment) program workers.

BEF also began to care for the circular garden of plants at the front of Bonsall Elementary School. We now call it the Bonsall Butterfly Garden and it holds native plants for pollinators. This garden also features an In Memoriam tree and plaque for BES student Parker Landis, who passed away in February 2017.
